Meaning Conference 2014

I was lucky enough to get a ticket for this year’s Meaning Conference at The Corn Exchange, Brighton.

Wow! What a line-up. I can’t say that I’ve ever seen to a more inspiring bunch of speakers. There’s no way a 200 word blog can do it justice, but if you weren’t there you can watch most of the talks on the Meaning Conference YouTube channel.

The event kicked off with a fast paced, fascinating and amusing talk from Mark Stevenson. Mark gave a whistle stop tour how technology is disrupting the world and how, if we’re lucky, we could experience enormous changes for the better.

Joel and Michelle Levey gave a really inspiring talk about increasing human consciousness. My favorite quote from their talk was:

“People were created to be loved.
Things were created to be used.
The reason why the world is in chaos
is because things are being loved
and people are being used.”

Another one of my favourite talks was from Sun Tui and about mindfulness and how amazingly horses respond to humans when we are physically, mentally and emotionally present. Sun is doing some brilliant work through her charity Dare to Live, treating people with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) using mindfulness techniques and horses.
